A letter of support for faculty is a formal document from a department chair, dean, collaborator, institution, or stakeholder confirming commitment to a proposed research project. It may describe available resources, institutional alignment, mentoring, facilities, cost sharing, or collaboration. For competitive federal proposals, strong letters are specific, credible, and clearly connected to the project’s objectives and review criteria.
